Job Description
Consulting, Designing and Project Managing:
As a Renewable Energy Manager and engineer, my role is to identify which renewable energy solution is most likely to be both appropriate and feasible for the client’s applications whether it is for a new build or an existing dwelling.
As a Renewable Energy Manager and engineer, my role is to identify the most efficient, effective and feasible solution to gain a low energy, carbon emissions reduced dwelling for a new build or an existing dwelling. A new build would start at the pre-construction stage (if possible) and targeting areas such as building form and materials in order to reduce heat loss and heating loads of the dwelling. When the building form and materials have been decided, calculations can be made to determine heat loss. Part of my job is to advise on additional measures which may lower the design heat loss value. Once all decisions have been made regarding the building, the selection of the heating system and source can be decided. Every client has different requirements meaning that a variation of systems may be used.
At Kelly’s Renewable Energy Solutions we offer a design, supply and installation service. My job entails project managing from design and consultancy stage through to installation and commissioning.
At Kelly’s we project manage the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the system, be it a renewable energy system or the whole plumbing, heating and renewable system for the building.
Previous Experience:
My degree entailed studying energy sources and systems which included renewable energy technologies from solar, biomass, hydro, and wind as well as alternative energy sources such as nuclear. This experience along with the general mechanical and electrical engineering of the course proved to be vital experience for my work at present. After completing my course I gained employment in a renewable energy company who worked through out Ireland. The company focused on designing low energy buildings and integrating renewables into the system. This included producing mechanical and electrical drawings for a specific job as well as project managing.
I have since worked as a construction site manager on a large residential home. The job a give hands on experience of the whole building process which helped me immensely when it came to dealing with project managing including meeting dead lines, managing time, budgets and schedules.
I am an accredited REIA (Renewable Energy Installer Academy) solar installer as well as an accredited designer and installer for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.
